Reduce Inflammation The Natural Way

Turmeric, also known as Curcumin, has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine to aid digestion and increase energy, as well as a powerful anti-inflammatory agent.  I have had some personal health issues crop up that have to do with inflammatory response in the body - my CRP (C-Reactive Protein) levels have been rising, as well as some recent issues with tooth inflammation.

I personally believe that nature often provides better remedies than man-made pharmaceutaticals produced in a laboratory. So I did some reasearch and based on everything I read about Tumeric I decided to give it a try and purchased a product called Curcumin, a concentrated Turmeric product.  It's been almost two months and I am thrilled to share with you that it has defintely had a positive impact on the inflammation in my tooth.  I was scheduled to have a root canal and my tooth is so improved I was able to cancel that appointment!  I have also noticed improved digestion and much less bloating than I used to have.  I have not yet had my CRP levels checked, but will let you know when I do.

So if you are dealing with any type of inflammation issues I would suggest you look into taking a tumeric supplement, or adding tumeric to your diet (it can be found in curry - though large quantities are needed to produce significant benefits).

Fast Facts About Turmeric/Curcumin:

What is it: Curcumin is a phytochemcial found in the Curcuma longa - tumeric - root responsible for curry's bright color.

Benefits:  Curcumin helps to relieve menstrual cramps, suppress inflammation, ease gastrointestinal upset, heal wounds, and may reduce arthritis pain.  It may also help boost energy and assist in clearing away plaque deposits in the brain linked to Alzheimer's disease.

Recommended Dosages:  Standard curcumin doses range from 450 mg. to 3 grams a day.  Supplementing with a phospholipid, such as lecithin, may increase absorption.  You may also benefit from eatting curry, though you would have to consume large amounts daily to have any significant health benefits.  Though one animal study did show that combining curcumin with piperline black-pepper extract inproved absorption by 2,000%!

Caution:  Curcumin may increase the risk of bleeding when take with ginkgo or garlic.  Of course you should always consult with your doctor before taking any supplement.
