THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS
by Donna Stellhorn
Thoughts become things. This simple statement is a powerful concept. It's based on the idea that anything that exists was first a thought in someone's mind. The chair you sit in, the meal you have for dinner, the clothing you're wearing, all was first a thought. But there may a scientific explanation for this concept. Physicists like Einstein and Bohr and other very bright quantum mechanics scholars tell us that all matter exists as both a wave and a particle. Think about that for a second; all matter is both a wave and a particle. Sounds very much like our thoughts (the waves) really can become things (formed by particles).
I know many people who act on this principle, that what they think and say will come into being. And so they do affirmations and positive thoughts to bring about a positive reality. And I think that's great. However I had seen these same people afraid of any negative idea, almost like one negative thought will poison all the positive. I saw a woman express a worry (and a worry, of course, is a prediction of a negative outcome) and she brought her hand to her mouth in fear and then quickly said "erase, erase, erase!". We shouldn't be afraid of our thoughts. Byron Katie points out that we don't really have any control about what we think. The thought appears faster than we can command ourselves not to think it.
If we go back to science we would say that if something is pushing in one direction and it meets a force pushing from the opposite direction with the same mass and energy then nothing will move. The two cancel each other out. But if one side pushes harder or has greater mass then it will win. That means if you stated something positive more often than you stated something negative then the positive would win. If I make the statement "everything will work out" more times then I say "this is not going to work out" then the thoughts, and eventually things, are starting to move in the right direction. On the other hand, if I believe the negative thought to be true and I feel the positive affirmation is a lie then the negative thought has much more weight and it will win.
The woman was trying to push back harder against the negative thought with her "erase, erase, erase" statement. The problem lies in that it's not just how many times you think a negative thought, it is how much "mass" and "energy" those thoughts have. And belief in a thought gives it lots of mass and energy. If you really firmly believe the negative thought then saying "erase" a hundred times won't have much weight.
You may not be able to control your thoughts but you can choose to be conscious of your thoughts and then challenge the belief behind the negative thinking. If the thought is "I don't have enough money" you can challenge that thought by asking yourself if it's really true that you don't have enough money. And if you are honest about your situation you will recognize that up until this very moment you have had enough money to have a place to live, food to eat, clothes to wear...in fact in the scheme of the world you have a lot of money and potential to get more. So the statement "I don't have enough money" can be replaced with the true and positive statement "I have had enough money and I want more". Or you could say "I have had enough money and I will continue to have enough money" and this is also true. If the thought is "I can't find a relationship" I would suggest that you might say "Though I haven't been able to find a relationship, I would allow a relationship to find me" and then when that feels true you can move to "I am open to a relationship finding me".
Negative statements can be rendered harmless by considering and challenging whether they are true. And if they're not true then craft a statement that is true and is also positive. Thoughts do become things. And with thoughtfully considered positive thoughts we can create a better world.

The Four Essentials for Good Health
by Dr. Bob Christiano
F
rom the desk of Dr. Bob Christiano
If you want to heal, or maintian your health, I believe there are four core things you must do:
1. The first is clean the colon, which I recommend doing at least twice a year, though ideally four times a year (at the turn of the every season - winter, summer, spring and fall). The colon is the body’s main channel of toxin elimination. If the colon is not clean, toxins build up and back up into the liver. Also, a clean colon eliminates diverticula, polyps and helps to prevent colon cancer. The colon does not have many nerves attached to it, so when we have a problem that registers pain from the colon, that tells us that there has been a problem brewing in the colon for years. A diet rich in fiber helps elimination. Do not take laxatives long term as this weakens the colon muscles as the colon will become dependant on the laxative and not work on it’s own. Also, hydration is a major component to colon health, which brings me to my next point...
2. Hydration. Yes folks, sorry to say but we must hydrate the body. The goal is to drink 8-10 glasses of water each day. Notice I said WATER. Only water hydrates. Juice, tea, coffee, alcohol etc do not hydrate. Once something is added to water, it changes the molecular structure of the water thereby keeping it (water) from entering the cells, which is where the hydration must take place. The benefits of water are numberous, but one major benefit is that water flushes the system of toxins and fatty deposits - a key to good health! Water is the ultimate solvent. When you are properly hydrated you are eliminating a common cause of headaches, you are helping your skin, and even may reduce your odds of getting breast cancer.
3. Next on the list is putting the proper fuel in the body. That means eating for your blood type. To make it simple, for every blood type (A,B,AB, O) there are beneficial, neutral and avoid foods. Beneficial foods heal the body, neutral foods build the body, and avoid foods poison the body. Every time we eat an avoid food, the red blood cells clump together and stack up on top of each other. This causes very thick and sticky blood. This a circulation issue. Poor blood flow, lack of oxygen to the extremities. Lack of oxygen, cells start to die then pain sets in. Our blood cells need to be separate from each other surrounded by oxygen. A person could be eating good food but if it is an avoid food for their blood type they are wasting their money. A simple example is, someone who eats chicken. In and of itself, chicken is good. But if you are a “B” blood type, you are consuming your number #1 avoid food. There are some good books on the market about eating for your blood type. If you would like additional information or to arrange a consultation email: rchristiano@cfl.rr.com.
4. Exercise. Uh-oh, the “E” word. I’m not talking about going to gym 7 days a week. But we must move the body around. You see, in the body is lymph fluid. In fact there is 4-6 times more lymph fluid in the body than there is blood. That’s a lot. Blood has a pump—the heart. Lymph fluid has no pump. The only thing that moves lymph fluid in the body is body movement. Lymph fluid does many things but 2 things important things it does is it delivers nutrients to the cells and takes out the garbage. When someone has a sedentary lifestyle, what you end up with is toxic laden lymph fluid. This is how we end up with lymphatic cancer. You may have noticed a recurring theme in all of my recommendations - and that is it is important to do whatever possible to remove toxins.
Unfortunatelly many people have a love affair with:
C---coffee
R---refined sugar
A---alcohol
P---prescription medication
These are all acidic, dehydrating, constipating elements.
So, let’s take a look at this. A person has a clogged, dirty colon, toxins are building, backing up into the liver. The liver is having a difficult time filtering the blood which is thick and sticky to begin with from eating the wrong food. The interior terrain of the body is dry because of dehydration and the lymph system cannot send toxins to the eliminative organs efficiently. "Gee---I can’t figure out why I feel so lousy!!!"
If you follow the recommendations I've given you on a consistent basis, most health problems will either clear up or won't start at all!
The automobile is such a good comparison.
Change the filters--------colon cleanse.
Use the right oil & fuel------eating for your blood type.
Maintain proper water level in the radiator------hydration.
Drive the car-------moving lymph fluid.
This is not complicated stuff here. Pretty simple and basic.
Here’s to your health ins 2011!
Sincerely,
Dr. Bob

A HAPPIER YOU
an excert from Oneness with All Life by Eckhart Tolle
As many of you know, I am huge fan of Eckhart Tolle's work. For those who are not famiiliar with Tolle, I highly recommend his book, A New Earth. This book changed my life, and I know many others have been touched by his revelations about the ego, and its affects on every aspect of our life, including our relationships, and mental and physical health. I discovered the following Tolle tips a few years ago from his book, Oneness With All Life, and like to reread them at the start of each new year. I thought you might be inspired by them, too!
1. Don't seek happiness. If you seek it, you won't find it, because seeking is the antithesis of happiness. Happiness is ever elusive, but freedom from unhappiness is attainable now, by facing what is rather than making up stories about it.
2. The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it. Be aware of the thoughts you are thinking. Separate them from the situation, which is always neutral, which always is as it is. There is the situation or the fact, and here are my thoughts about it. Instead of making up stories, stay with the facts. For example, "I am ruined" is a story. It limits you and prevents you from taking effective action. "I have 50 cents left in my bank account" is a fact. Facing facts is always empowering.
3. See if you can catch the voice in your head, perhaps in the very moment it complains about something, and recognize it for what it is: the voice of the ego, no more than a thought. Whenever you notice that voice, you will also realize that you are not the voice, but the one who is aware of it. In fact, you are the awareness that is aware of the voice. In the background, there is the awareness. In the foreground, there is the voice, the thinker. In this way you are becoming free of the ego, free of the unobserved mind.
4. Wherever you look, there is plenty of circumstantial evidence for the reality of time—a rotting apple, your face in the bathroom mirror compared with your face in a photo taken 30 years ago—yet you never find any direct evidence, you never experience time itself. You only ever experience the present moment.
5. Why do anxiety, stress, or negativity arise? Because you turned away from the present moment. And why did you do that? You thought something else was more important. One small error, one misperception, creates a world of suffering.
6. People believe themselves to be dependent on what happens for their happiness. They don't realize that what happens is the most unstable thing in the universe. It changes constantly. They look upon the present moment as either marred by something that has happened and shouldn't have or as deficient because of something that has not happened but should have. And so they miss the deeper perfection that is inherent in life itself, a perfection that lies beyond what is happening or not happening. Accept the present moment and find the perfection that is untouched by time.
7. The more shared past there is in a relationship, the more present you need to be; otherwise, you will be forced to relive the past again and again.
8. Equating the physical body with "I," the body that is destined to grow old, wither, and die, always leads to suffering. To refrain from identifying with the body doesn't mean that you no longer care for it. If it is strong, beautiful, or vigorous, you can appreciate those attributes—while they last. You can also improve the body's condition through nutrition and exercise. If you don't equate the body with who you are, when beauty fades, vigor diminishes, or the body becomes incapacitated, this will not affect your sense of worth or identity in any way. In fact, as the body begins to weaken, the light of consciousness can shine more easily.
9. You do not become good by trying to be good, but by finding the goodness that is already within you and allowing that goodness to emerge.
10. If peace is really what you want, then you will choose peace.
