New Tool Enables Better Health Research
You can now “train” the Google search engine and make searching for the latest information and resources on alternative treatments and chronic illnesses much easier.
Google is rolling out a new feature called “Search Wiki” and if you use Google a lot for your research on alternative medicine or chronic illness, you’re going to like it.
Take a look at the circles in the picture below.
You’ll see a couple new icons showing up on the search results page on the left side (referred to as the “natural” or “organic” listings).
These allow you to customize the results page and Google will remember your preferences. Using the arrows in the circles you can move up a result. So for example if you do a search and you find that a particular site (like healwithhope.com) consistently has content that you find helpful and relevant, you can move that listing up and Google over time will remember your preference to get results from similar websites.
Similarly, if you are researching for information and the search results include listings from a site that only sells merchandise, you can delete it using the “X” in the circle and the site won’t appear again when you repeat that search. You now also can make notes about particular websites right from that search results page. See the voice bubble icon? If you click on that you can make notes about the website in that listing and that note will appear whenever Google returns that website to you in a Search Results page. So if Heal With Hope always returns helpful information for “EFT,” then you can make a comment that will help you remember that. Click on the bubble and type “great site for information about EFT.” These fine-tunings and comments will only be visible if you are logged into your Google account. Just look at the top right corner of any search results page and you’ll either see your account name or “sign in.” If it says “sign in,” you are not logged in. If you don’t have a Google account, it is as easy as registering for a free email account from Google called “Gmail. Use these new changes to make the most of the vast resources on the internet that can help you get the information you need.
