April 2007 Jeff Krock

Living with a chronic illness can attract a variety of difficult feeling and emotions, one of them being fear. Fear of the unknown…the sense of not having control…can be very overwhelming. Our Guest Speaker this month is Jeff Krock, master teacher, healer and coach. Here are excerpts from Jeff’s Heart of the Matter Newletters on the subject of fear. THE ORIGIN OF FEAR

Life naturally includes both the world of form and the formless world. The world of form is the physical world that includes our bodies, thoughts, emotions, and ego; the formless world is the world that science defines as the quantum level and religion defines as the spiritual realm. In the formless world, we find our higher frequencies of vibration: spirit (energy), Heart, Soul, and Source (God, Unified Field).

When we are born on earth, we move from formlessness into form. As soon as we come into our bodies, we automatically begin to separate from spirit, Heart, Soul, and Source—our higher frequencies of vibration. We start developing an ego—a defined, separate, individual self that lives in our lower frequencies of vibration. In the Biblical story of the Garden of Eden, this fall in vibrational frequency is often called “the fall from grace,” or just “the Fall.”

The Heart of the Matter: During the process of separating from the formless world—and as a result of our separation—fear just happens. There is no reason why. In our current stage of evolution, “the fall” in vibrational frequency is a necessary part of becoming a healthy human being.

Having fallen in vibrational frequency, we are constrained by the limitations of our egos. One limitation is believing that fear is inherently a signal that something is wrong. We are conditioned to avoid fear. We also want to understand why we are afraid. So we expend a large portion of our energy hiding from fear and trying to understand logically why we are afraid.

Try This: What we are aiming for is to see beyond our reasons for the fear to the essential nature of fear.

  1. Choose to notice your fear.
  2. Notice how much energy you use trying to understand why you are afraid.
  3. Notice what your ego/thinking mind is using to help you understand your fear. For example, “I’m afraid because I’m running out of money.” “I’m afraid because of world terrorism.”
  4. Notice the belief that if you can understand your fear, then fear will go away.
  5. Notice that fear is just simply here. In seeing this, you can more readily be in the moment-to-moment process of creating your life and connecting with the world around you. When you accept and include fear, your life is more and more fulfilling and you naturally serve the lives of all.

MAKING FRIENDS WITH FEAR

I have spent more than 30 years learning about fear and helping others make friends with their fear. This is a complex subject. Here are some of my perspectives.

The Heart of the Matter: Fear is not inherently a problem. When you get down to the very basis of fear, it is just simply there—as predictably there as clouds in the sky and arms and legs on our bodies. It is a feeling, a reaction that lives only in the lower vibrational levels of our existence. On the higher vibrational levels, there is no fear.

I suggest that we make friends with the fear and create a more balanced relationship with it. This is easier said than done and it takes practice. Understandably, most of us expend a great deal of energy pushing our fear away, hiding from it, pretending it’s not there.

You can keep your power in the face of your fear. The key is to give up resisting your fear. Self acceptance is always a bridge toward the higher vibrational levels and, at the higher vibrational levels, there is no fear.

Try This: What we are aiming for is to comfortably feel the fear and, simultaneously, to include the higher vibrational levels where there is no fear.

Expand Your Energy
On the energy level, we tend to contract around the feeling of fear. To reverse this contraction:

  1. Rest into your body. Take some time with this.
  2. Expand your energy (spirit) in and through your torso.
  3. Notice that expanding your energy creates space. When you add space, the fear is then relatively smaller. It is much easier to live with the feeling.
